POLITICAL PARTICIPATION OF PEOPLE IN MHEUNG SUBDISTRICT MUNICIPALITY,MUEANG DISTRICT, CHONBURI PROVINCE

Abstract

The purposes of the present study were to investigate levels of political participation of people in Mheung Subdistrict Municipality, Chonburi Province, and to compare political participation of the people by considering personal factors. A total of 381 residents of Mheung Subdistrict Municipality aged of 18 or over were surveyed using questionnaires. Statistical analyses used in this study included frequency distribution, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. To test research hypotheses, t-test and One-way ANOVA were used to compare the means of the variables at a significance level of 0.05. LSD tests were used for pairwise comparisons. Results of the study showed that the political participation of people in Mheung Subdistrict Municipality were at a moderate level. Considering each political participation category, it was found that the mean of voting was highest among the others, which was at a high level. The means of news following and political discussions followed and they were at a moderate level, while the mean of political demonstration participation was the lowest and was at a low level. Considering each personal factor, differences in age, occupation, and income significantly affected pollical participation of the people residing in the municipality at a significance level of 0.05. In contrast, no significant difference was found when comparing the factors of age, marital status, and education level with the political participation at a significance level of 0.05. The results of this study suggest that Mheung Subdistrict Municipality promote the exposure to updates on political news and local elections among people in the municipality.

การวิจัยเรื่อง การมีส่วนร่วมทางการเมืองของประชาชนในเขตเทศบาลตำบลเหมือง อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดชลบุรี มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาระดับการมีส่วนร่วมทางการเมืองของประชาชนในเขตเทศบาลตำบลเหมือง อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดชลบุรี และเพื่อศึกษาเปรียบเทียบการมีส่วนร่วมทางการเมืองของประชาชนในเขตเทศบาลตำบลเหมือง อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดชลบุรี จำแนกตามปัจจัยส่วนบุคคล กลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ใช้ในการวิจัย คือ ประชาชนที่มีถิ่นที่อยู่และมีภูมิลำเนาอยู่ในเขตเทศบาลตำบลเหมือง อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดชลบุรี ที่มีอายุตั้งแต่ 18 ปีขึ้นไป จำนวน 381 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการเก็บข้อมูล คือ แบบสอบถาม สถิติที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ได้แก่ การแจกแจงความถี่ ค่าร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย และค่าส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน ในการทดสอบสมมติฐานจะใช้สถิติแบบ t-Test และใช้สถิติแบบ One-Way ANOVA สำหรับตัวแปรที่มีมากกว่า 2 กลุ่ม หากมีความแตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ 0.05 จะทดสอบเปรียบเทียบความแตกต่างรายคู่ด้วยวิธีการของ LSD ผลการศึกษาพบว่า การมีส่วนร่วมทางการเมืองของประชาชนในเขตเทศบาลตำบลเหมือง อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดชลบุรี โดยภาพรวมอยู่ในระดับปานกลาง เมื่อพิจารณาเป็นรายด้านพบว่า ด้านที่มีค่าเฉลี่ยสูงสุดคือ ด้านการลงคะแนนคะแนนเสียงเลือกตั้ง อยู่ในระดับมาก รองลงมาคือ ด้านการติดตามข่าวสารทางการเมือง อยู่ในระดับปานกลาง ด้านการพูดคุยแลกเปลี่ยนความคิดเห็นทางการเมือง อยู่ในระดับปานกลาง และด้านที่มีค่าเฉลี่ยน้อยที่สุดคือ ด้านการร่วมชุมนุมทางการเมือง อยู่ในระดับน้อยที่สุด ตามลำดับ ผลการเปรียบเทียบการมีส่วนร่วมทางการเมืองของประชาชนในเขตเทศบาลตำบลเหมือง อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดชลบุรี จำแนกตามปัจจัยส่วนบุคคล พบว่า ประชาชนที่มีอายุ อาชีพ และรายได้ ต่างกัน มีส่วนร่วมทางการเมืองในเขตเทศบาลตำบลเหมือง อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดชลบุรี แตกต่างกัน อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ 0.05 เป็นไปตามสมมติฐานที่ตั้งไว้ ส่วนประชาชนที่มี เพศ สถานภาพการสมรส และระดับการศึกษา ต่างกัน มีส่วนร่วมทางการเมืองในเขตเทศบาลตำบลเหมือง อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดชลบุรี ไม่แตกต่างกัน ที่ระดับนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ 0.05 ไม่เป็นไปตามสมมติฐานที่ตั้งไว้ ข้อเสนอแนะที่ได้จากงานวิจัยครั้งนี้คือ เทศบาลตำบลเหมืองควรส่งเสริมและประชาสัมพันธ์ข่าวสารทางการเมืองและการเลือกตั้งระดับท้องถิ่นให้แก่ประชาชนอย่างทั่วถึง
