Abstract: Good self-management behavior can prevent stroke recurrence.This study aimed to describe self-management behaviors and determine whether the stroke prevention knowledge, illness representation and hope can predict self-management behaviors among recurrent stroke persons in Wenzhou China. A total of 100 participants who were admitted to eight Neurology out-patient departments of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University were recruited by using simple random sampling technique. The research instruments included the demographic data questionnaire, the Chinese Version of Stroke Self‐management Scale, Stroke Prevention Knowledge Questionnaire, Brief Illness Perceptions Questionnaire, Herth Hope Index. The Cronbach’s α coefficients for the scales were .84, .81, .81, .84, respectively. Descriptive statistics and multiple regression were used for data analysis. The results of this study showed that the mean score of self-management behaviors among participants was 106.32 (SD = 15.15) out of 150.
