Abstract: The purpose of this study is to understand the HR impact of Covid-19 on the hotel industry in Yunnan Province, to study the role of HR practices in four-star hotels in Yunnan Province, to identify effective HR practices during covid-19, and to propose a model of effective HR practices for the hotel industry. The researcher used qualitative research as the research design. The research paradigm was social constructivism and grounded theory approach was used as the research strategy to study the role of HR practices in four-star hotels in Yunnan Province. The data collection method for this study was in-depth interviews.                       The researcher collected data information from 20 participants who are HR workers in four-star hotels in Yunnan Province, including Hotel Deputy General Manager, Human Resources Directors, Human Resources Managers, Deputy Human Resources Managers, and Human Resources Workers.Participants were required to have at least two years of HR related work experience in order to collect sufficient information from the interviews. Data were hand-coded during the data analysis process. Through data analysis, the researcher summarized 3 themes and 16 categories and found that the human resource impacts of COVID-19 on selected four-star in Yunnan Province include: 1) Training issues, 2) Recruitment pressure, 3) Work pressure, 4) Negative emotions, 5) Human resources shortage, and 6) Employee health. Through data analysis, it was found that the role of human resources practice in responding to COVID-19 includes: 1) Enhance employee skills, 2) Reducing Human resources shortages, 3) Taking care of Employee Health, 4) Motivate employees, and 5) Alleviate negative emotions. Through data analysis, researchers have found that effective human resource practice of hotel industry includes: 1) Organizing training, 2) Career development, 3) Employee retention, 4) Employee care, and 5) Employee motivation; In summary, this paper presents an overview of the human resource practices in the hotel industry. Through data analysis, researchers have found that effective human resource practice of hotel industry includes: 1) Organizing training, 2) Career development, 3) Employee retention, 4) Employee care, and 5) Employee motivation. In conclusion, this study makes an important contribution to the hotel industry.
