Abstract: The abundance and composition of microplastic in the eastern coastal areas of Chonburi province, Thailand were studied. The samples were collected from 7 stations (Tha Ruea Phli, Angsila, Laem Thaen, Wonnapha beach, Koh Loi island, Koh Sichang island and Ao Udom) in March, June, September and December 2020. The uses of the Manta net (330 µm) and Submerged pump (300 µm) were carried out for the water sample collection while the Ekman grab was used for the sediment samples. The results indicated that 6 compositions of microplastics were found, namely filament, fragment, foam, film, granule and pellet with the highest abundance of filament in both water and sediment samples. The results also found that colors of sampled plastics were red, blue and white color. The size of microplastics were in the range of 100-2000 µm and 4 types of plastics (polyethylene, polypropylene, polyester and polyamide) were found. The average densities of sampling methods were 16.73 and 40.96 particle/m3  using Manta net and Submerged pump, respectively and 118.60 particle/kg using the sediment method. The results showed that the monsoon and season changes were the factors of the composition and density of microplastics. Moreover, the ingestion of unnatural feeding was also found in zooplankton studied by the fluorescent spectroscopy in the low amount of 0.27 %. The studies of microplastic in zooplankton represented that the microplastic may possibly consumed by zooplankton which may be depended on size (body & mount), concentration and microplastic shape which may negatively impact to zooplankton and to the food web accumulation.
